How to Choose a Campervan Sink: Sizes, Waste Tanks & What You Need to Know

If you're converting a van, fitting out a caravan, or kitting out a boat, one of the most practical additions you can make to your kitchen area is a proper stainless steel sink. But with various sizes and configurations available, it can be hard to know where to start. Here's what you need to know.

What size sink do I need?

Campervan sinks are much smaller than domestic sinks — typically between 26cm and 34cm in diameter. The right size depends on how much space you have in your kitchen area and how you plan to use it.

• 26cm — ideal for very compact builds or where space is tight. Suitable for washing hands and light use.
• 29cm or 31cm — the most popular sizes, balancing functionality with space efficiency. Good for washing up on the road.
• 34cm — the most generous option, better suited to larger vans or caravans where kitchen space isn't a constraint.

Do I need a waste tank?

This depends on your setup. If you're connected to a campsite drain or have a grey water drain plumbed into your van, you can use a sink with just a waste pipe. But if you're off-grid and can't connect to drainage, a sink with a built-in 10-litre waste tank is the way to go. The tank collects used water and can be emptied at a dump point when full.

Yes — our sinks drop into a cutout in your worktop and connect to a standard waste pipe fitting. If you're using a waste tank, you simply connect the pipe from the sink to the tank inlet. Most van converters fit them without any specialist plumbing knowledge.
